Helm-Styling: So kombinieren wir den Velohelm

Wir wissen alle, dass es unvernünftig ist, auf dem Velo keinen Helm zu tragen. Und doch ertappen wir uns immer wieder dabei, dass wir darauf verzichten – weil die Frisur grad so gut sitzt oder der Look so überhaupt nicht zum ollen Plastikding passt. Tatsache ist: Das olle Plastikding kann einem das Leben retten – Ausreden gelten also nicht. Unsere Junior Fashion Editor Mariella Ingrassia hat sich von der Designerin Ana Kraš inspirieren lassen, die sich auf dem Cover des «Zeit-Magazins» im blumigen Zweiteiler in leuchtendem Blau, passendem Foulard, trendiger Prada-Bauchtasche und mit Helm zeigt – und für uns einige Looks zusammengestellt.

Last year one of my favorite magazines @zeitmagazin asked me to be a guest editor of their entire design issue. It took me few months to believe that they were serious about it. It actually took for Claire to fly to NYC to have a meeting with me for me to believe it. It felt too big. It was a very new task for me and something i’ve never done before. First I had to ask myself what does design even mean to me. Design is such an abstract, wide subject. I asked myself what is design? and then I answered to myself – it’s the result of people thinking in a certain way and improvising to try solve problems of useful objects they surround themselves, objects they use in daily life. I am not into design magazines because the visual aspect of design bores me. I wanted to focus this issue on things that interest me personally, hoping others would find interest in that too. In design, i am interested in how people live with objects and what they mean to them. My favorite object in the house is the dining table, because it was an epicenter of my world growing up in a small apartment. The table became a focus of the issue. That lead to connecting how our memories and things we experienced form our taste and response to objects later on in life. As i grew up in Belgrade and it formed me deeply – I decided to dedicate a big part of the issue to the design in Belgrade. Belgrade and places in 3rd world countries don’t have strong architectural regulations – and that’s what allows for most interesting improvisations of the citizens and some of the most interesting design ideas. I had one of the biggest honors of my life – to meet, photograph and talk to one of my favorite living architects – Ricardo Bofill. This issue feels much more than a project to me, it’s still surreal to see my family, my friends, my home town, my current home, mr Bofill – all collected into one bouquet that is the most personal to me. The covers were shot in nyc by my friend Daniel Arnold. We shot during corona outbreak and Bowery street is empty. I am on my bicycle as usual, and i am adjusting a scarf as a face mask. Ein passendes Styling ist durchaus möglich. Die Tricks:
 

– Einen Helm auswählen, der in dezenten, gedeckten Farben daherkommt

– Das Outfit darf dafür umso aufregender sein: stehlen Sie dem Helm die Show!

– Passende Sonnenbrille auswählen: je schöner die Kombi zwischen Helm und Brille, desto besser

 

Besonders wichtig ist ausserdem, dass der Helm gut sitzt. Die Beratungsstelle für Unfallverhütung (bfu) rät: 

– Probieren Sie den Helm an: Er muss – bei geöffnetem Kinnband – gut sitzen, ohne zu drücken oder zu wackeln.

– Reinigen Sie den Velohelm nur mit Wasser und Seife. Lösungsmittel können die Kunststoffschale angreifen und beschädigen.

– Das Alter und die Abnützung des Helms spielen bei der Schutzwirkung eine Rolle, ersetzen Sie den Helm also regelmässig.
